"No-No"

As we've potty trained Elianna, we taught her that when she has an accident we call it a "no-no." If she had an accident in the house we would walk to where the accident happened, point at the spot, say "no-no" and then walk to the potty and say "Elianna goes on the potty chair," repeating this process five times, every time there was a "no-no." Since potty training, Eli has had a few accidents and each time, as soon as it happens, she looks down at herself and says 'NO-NO" and then looks up at me sheepishly.

So yesterday morning I was busy cleaning our dirty dishes. I came and sat down next to Elianna shortly there after. Apparently as I was washing the dishes, water from the sink had sprayed out onto my pants. Elianna immediately noticed the wet spots on my pants and exclaimed (pointing at my pants) with hast, "Mommy no-no! Mommy no-no."

My immediate thoughts were: of course mommy didn't really have a no-no, it just looks like it. How do I explain that the water from the sink splashed on me? She's not even two years old. I gave in, looked at my sweet girl and said, "Yes Elianna, mommy had a no-no." It was just easier.

So thankful for the light she brings to my day, each and every day!
